The Healing Experience

A sacred journey of renewal, guided by ancient wisdom.

Step into a space where time slows down and the soul begins to remember. The Healing Experience is a deeply transformative ceremony rooted in the ancestral practices of traditional Amazonian healing. Led by experienced curanderos, this sacred rite weaves together medicinal plants, ritual, and spiritual guidance to restore balance to the body, mind, and spirit.

Through the wisdom of nature’s pharmacy, we support the release of emotional burdens, the cleansing of energetic blockages, and the awakening of inner clarity. Whether you are seeking physical relief, emotional healing, or a deeper connection to your soul’s path, The Healing Experience offers a safe and intentional container for your personal transformation.

Each ceremony is held with respect, presence, and care - honoring the sacred traditions that have guided healing for generations.

What Plant Medicines Do We Work With?

Plant medicines are natural healing plants, used for centuries by indigenous cultures to support physical health, emotional balance, and spiritual connection. They work in harmony with the body’s innate wisdom to cleanse, restore, and heal. Far more than just herbal treatments, plant medicines are sacred allies—each carrying its own spirit, teaching, and power. When used with respect and intention, they offer profound guidance, healing, and transformation on all levels of being.

We work with different plant medicines and administer only that which best suited for the client. Meaning that, like going to a doctor, we analyse your physical, emotional and mental state to make a diagnosis and decide what plant medicine is best suited for your healing.

That being said, all persons new to plant medicine are given psilocybin OR mescaline based plant medicine for their healing experience. These options are:

  • Santo Niños (sacred mushrooms)

  • Piedras Encantadas / Magic stones (sacred truffels)

  • Huachuma (san pedro cactus - only in South America)

We give healings with ayahuasca as well but, we know for a fact that ayahuasca is not for everyone. Ayahuadca is best suited for people who:

  • Suffer from severe depression or PTSD

  • Or suffer from physical health problems and would like to heal with ayahuasca

  • Or people who already have experience with plant medicine(s)

We currently only give healings with Ayahuasca or Huachuma in Curaçao / South America in the form of a private retreat. Go to our “retreats” page for more information.

  • Can I drive my car after doing a ceremony?
Our retreats include overnight stay. The last day you will be fully able to travel back or drive home. You may experience some fatigue, so keep that in mind. Our 1 on 1 ceremonies start earlier and participants often travel back home in the evening. When the Santo Niño has completely broken down, there is plenty of time to clear your head and eat something and recover. Our guides will then thoroughly test whether you are completely clear again and can drive. If necessary or desired, you can always sleep over. Safety first!
  • Can I bring someone along for support?
As much as we would like to offer that, we cannot facilitate this. Experience has shown that a non-participant could distract you in your process and also because we don't really have room for non-participants to stay. We hope for your understanding. Our ceremony supervisors are all very warm and loving people who are there to support and comfort you in your process. You are not alone!
  • Can I go to work the day after a ceremony or healing?
This is possible, but we always recommend taking the day off after the ceremony. Once the Santo Niño or Ayahuasca has been processed through your system, you are immediately fresh again and there is no real 'hangover' effect. But the process may have been emotional and continues to a lesser extent after your ceremony. In the days that follow, emotions and insights sometimes still come through, so it is important that you are kind to yourself and take enough rest in the days that follow.
  • How can I best prepare for my healing ceremony?
When working with any medicine it's important to have a healthy diet and a healthy lifestyle to become receptive and open to the teachings and wisdom of the plants. As they help us heal from trauma, depression or even disease, it is important that we honour our sacred journey by coming as prepared as possible. The better we prepare ourselves prior to any ceremony, the more benefits we will reap. The details about what you can do to properly prepare your mind, body & soul for this beautiful experience will be given to you by Jao or Mamanilca after booking your 1 on 1 healing or private retreat.
  • Can I attend a ceremony if I use medications?
If you have physical diseases such as severe liver problems, heart disease, kidneyfailure or diabetes it is necesarry to first do a diet plan to heal physically untill you are fit enough to attend a ceremony or do the healing experience. We can aid in your recovery by giving you a healing diet combined with medicinal herbs. However, if you have any other severe physical ailment such as cancer, we actually encourage you to do a healing ceremony. In case of severe disease such as cancer, a healing ceremony can provide insights on how to heal and become physically well. Together with a healing diet afterwards and medicinal herbs we can help you find more harmony within your own body and mind. When using medications, for any physical or mental illness, please inform us prior to booking by contacting Jao Silvan to find out how we can make your sacred healing journey most pleasant and effective.
  • Do you offer excursions and activities outside of the retreat?
Each 2 or 5 retreat includes excursions to nearby attractions. You decide whether you come along or whether you stay at our location. Since there is a lot of nature in the area with many hikes and beaches, we happily take you around to some of these hotspots.
  • How much time will a 1 on 1 healing take?
Every person is unique, and so, every healing journey is unique as well. Therefore, the duration of your healing journey will be mostly depending on how much trauma, stress, tension and emotional imbalances you have within. The most important thing to know is that you will be given as much time as YOU need to fully finish the process. That being said, most people undergo a healing medicine journey of 3 to 5 hours. Together with the consultation you will have beforehand and the integrational mentoring afterwards, the total experience can last anywhere between 6 to 8 hours.
  • What should I bring to a ceremony or private retreat?
We provide linen, towels, food and drinks and good, healing vibes. You must bring: In case of a private retreat: Things for an overnight stay Comfortable clothing Flipflops A journal Swim & Active wear For 1 on 1 Healings: Comfortable clothing A journal
  • How do I get to the Healing Centre?
The Akituwa healers retreats and ceremonies is facilitated on the island of Curaçao in the Dutch Caribbean, located on the west side of the island. Easily accessible from Hato airport within a 30 min drive. The full address of the retreat will be provided after your booking, but we also offer airport transportation.
  • Should I have expectations and set a goal for myself?
Setting an intention is important. Your intention is what you strive for, both during the ceremony and in the time prior and after. If you can clearly indicate where you want to move, and ask for help with that movement, that in itself is an energetic opening to receive what the ceremony has to offer you. An intention is not the same as an expectation – it's better to have no expectations at all. However, you get what you need, not what you want. It's important to understand that you may not get the specific answers you're looking for. It's important to surrender to the process, and trust that you'll get what you need, even if it doesn't always perfectly match your intentions.
